An elderly businessman filed a lawsuit against the Colombian singer, alleging financial losses exceeding $140,000. Though his case was dismissed, he maintains his claims are authentic.
Shakira has long maintained a private life away from public scandals, making it unlikely fans would associate her with controversy. However, one man filed a formal lawsuit against the acclaimed artist, claiming he suffered significant financial losses due to alleged fraud totaling over $140,000.
David Kourosh Rashidian, 80, brought this case to public attention. According to his statements to the program Primer Impacto, he alleges that the artist behind 'Hips Don't Lie' supposedly proposed starting a romantic relationship with him.
'After two months, she asked me to be in a relationship and I said no, that I only wanted to do business. She mentioned we would create a book and perform 100 concerts around the world,' the elderly businessman explained.

The media outlet shared screenshots showing posts from a Facebook account named 'Shakir Issabel personal,' displaying photos of the celebrity alongside the plaintiff. However, this was not Shakira's official account.

The situation appears to have resulted from a case of mistaken identity. An internet user impersonated the 48-year-old singer on social media with the intention of deceiving this businessman.
Shakira's legal team argued that David Kourosh was a victim of identity theft and requested the court dismiss the lawsuit, asserting with confidence that the Colombian artist had no involvement in any of the accused actions.
For his part, the elderly man insists this is not a misunderstanding, remaining fully convinced that Shakira herself perpetrated this 'fraud' against him. 'No, it's not. It's all real,' he stated firmly.
Because he did not appear at the virtual hearing, the lawsuit has been archived. However, the judge granted the plaintiff the option to file another complaint, provided he makes the necessary amendments to his case.
