A single father opened his heart and home to three brothers who had been turned away by other families 16 times. After five years of uncertainty, these children finally found the unconditional love and belonging they deserved.

When Miguel (4), Willis (6), and Nevaeh (9) arrived at a transitional home in 2016, they were told it would only be a matter of time before a family would adopt them. Five years and 16 placements later, the three brothers had learned that the only constant in their lives was the bond of trust and love they shared with each other—until they met Darryl Andersen.

This man from Vernal, Utah, was a single father of three adult children with no plans to expand his family or return to raising young children. But when he learned about these three siblings' journey, he simply couldn't turn away.

The boys had gone through the entire adoption process over five years, moved between different homes while authorities searched for a family willing to adopt all three together. Their varying ages, different developmental stages, the financial responsibility of caring for three children, and the complexity of integrating them into an established household proved to be obstacles too great for most families to overcome.

However, Darryl spoke with his own children about what these three boys had endured, and the consensus was unanimous: these children deserved a real chance to transform their lives and grow surrounded by genuine care and affection.

'There are children in this world who don't have a place to call home. When Christmas comes around, where do they go? I believe one of my main motivations is that because I've been given so much, I also need to give,' Darryl Andersen shared with KSL TV.

In October 2020, the adoption became official. When they arrived at their new home, Darryl witnessed a tightly-knit family of three: 'They are very close and understand perfectly that life is complex. They were placed in 16 different situations, so all they had was each other.'

He understands that love doesn't blossom overnight and will be a bond they must build together each day. 'I want them to understand that the past is the past, and that they can forge their own future. Everything depends on them,' he explained.

'Everyone tells me it's difficult, that one or two children might be easier but that three is too much. I believe I was blessed three times over with them,' he assured. For the boys, everything flows with a natural ease they had never experienced before. Speaking directly to the camera, they expressed their newfound joy: 'We love you more than anything. It's because you're a good father. We love you so much,' they said—words that captured the profound healing and hope their new family had brought into their lives.
